27 days in....

I am now in St Ives. Made good progress in the last week and am four days walking from the half way point of Porthallow. I am staying at Ayr camp site on the top of the hill on the right as you look at the town. I have to draw attention to the toilet block which is quite the best I have experienced of all the campsites I have been to. Free showers (other campsites take note) and just funky decor. Very nice. I am behind a big hedge as well to protect us campers from the south westerlies that are coming in.

Got a 'severe' stage to complete down to Pendeen Watch tomorrow so having a rest day in St Ives. I walked 18 miles yesterday from Portreath which is a bit of a hike. It didn't take too long to reach Hayle but then there is an estuary to walk round. The last bit turned a bit sour as the campsite I was aiming for in Canbis Bay ceased to exist sometime so had a trudge into and out of St Ives town Centre to get to the campsite I am at; and it started raining..moan moan.

I can recommend this walk. It's amazing and despite all the hard climbs and strong winds threatening to blow you away it's a privilege to see the varied coastline that evolves day to day.

Hello

Sitting in Tourist Information in Padstow. Just got the ferry over from Rock after a brief walk this morning from Polzeath. Big shouts to Martin and everybody at the Valley Caravan Park for sorting my life out last night. Amazing hospitality.

This week has been beautiful, bright and fresh walking days through Boscastle, Tintagel, Port Issac and I should be in Newport by Saturday riding some giants or catching some tubes err or something.

Generally things are going well. No real problems, getting fitter and stronger and starting to enjoy it. Weather just about holding out though had one drenching yesterday morning.

Walking to Porthcloran today and camping there.

Hello

Internet access is a bit sporadic on the walk so this is the first time I have been able to add anything about the walk.

Been walking/resting for 10 days now and I am in Westward Ho. Pleased with progess as the first four stages of the walk wome of the hardest apparently. Almost bailed out completely after two days and weather was pretty bad, windy and wet and was done in by the steep climbs that kept on appearing.

But have made it this far and though very hard has been extremely rewarding. Walk from Lynton to Combe Martin has been the highlight so far with climbs at Woody Bar, Heedons Mouth and The Great Hangman still resonating in the feet and legs. Some amazing scenary. Great spots to view all the wildlife and wild flowers.

Did a couple of days walking with Ruth who I met just outside Minehead and have been following the same schedule. Though she has moved on ahead now.

Had to buy a new tent.

So there I was walking down from St Martha's Hill on the North Downs Way and this pothole springs a surprise and I end up face down in a pile of dust and gravel. Hurt my arm real bad.

Thanks to the people who took me in to their home and helped clean me up and my dad for coming to pick me up.
