Dear reader,

I have briefly touched on my stay at the Treloan Camp site. I have included an image of a fairly battered leaflet that the owner Victor gave me. I just wanted to reiterate the friendlyness of the welcome and the endless cups of tea that Victor offered. We also had some fun taking part in the pub quiz up the road on the Sunday evening at the end of my last rest day in Portscatho. Great fun.

I didn't find his shire horse so that is up to you.

Dear Reader

I've finished. If you are inclined get out there.

Had the worst days weather to cross the line, wind and rain battered us round old harry rocks. I walked the last stretch with Forster and Jane, a couple from Australia who were doing the whole thing like me. I have to thank them for keeping me going on the long walk from Lulworth Cove to Swanage on the Saturday. That is a really beautiful walk amazing climbs, geology, bird life. But a long walk and no chance of a cup of tea anywhere.

Will be putting my diary of the walk up here slowly and some photos. Lost me bleedin' camera like a darn fool in Weymouth. Hoping for a personal appeal on South West TV, maaaayyybeee. Anyway got a few on my phone and Ruth, Forster and Jane will send me some over time.

55 days in....

Dear all

I am in Weymouth for now. I have just walked around the Isle of Portland which unfortunately due to the cloudyness and poor visibility wasn't the sight it could have been. Anyhow it was part of it all and interesting in it's own right.

I think I may have lost my journal on the bus getting out there so flip it (audible scream) have checked with the lost property at Weymouth bus station to see if they have had it handed in but nothing so far. I have been super careful with that and the two guidebooks I have been using but some things can't cope with my skills at losing things.

Checking my last post I was in Dartmouth when I updated this 9 nine days ago. So good progress from there. Some tough sections but there are some 'severe' sections between here and the ferry at Studland. (I am dreaming of the ferry at Studland.) Lulworth Cove until Swanage looks to be a bad one and it also looks like rain on Saturday so could be a lot of fun.

It's funny how the days have gone though. Counting down the days until it was two weeks to go, the into single figures and now it's three days of walking left. How strange it will be to be home again. Not very.

I can say I will be in Lulworth Cove tomorrow night. Not sure where I am staying yet but should be either at the youth hostel or back in the tent. Word has it the area either side of Lulworth to Worther Matravers stretch is pretty booked out. A lot of people are planning to do this stretch as it is only open at weekends as it is Ministry of Defence firing ranges. Hold on to your hats.

Hello

Back in front of a computer sooner than i thought as I don't think i was intending to stay in Dartmouth.

So yes in Dartmouth. It's been pretty wet today but having seen the weather forecast this morning I think I missed the worst of it. Seems to be heading into another dry spell for the rest of the week so that's good. Will keep the schedule going that I want to to finish a week on sunday.

Been rocking the b and b scene down here for the last week and in another nice one tonight. Managed to leave Torcross early this morning and made it to Dartmouth by 1.30 so have the afternoon to have a look round. I suppose one thing about doing a walk like this is that you tend to zip in an out of places and don't get time to have a good look round. But not today I will be off in a minute to see what's what.

Had a good night in Salcombe on Sunday and the walk from Salcombe to Torcross was one of the best stages so far. Very varied scenery and half way through the weather cleared and it was a beautifully clear end to the day.

Onto Brixham tomorrow where I hope to watch the football. There is a youth hostel there so I hope to be staying there tomorrow night.
